I'm surprised that there hasn't been more play about this in the diaries, but hasn't anyone else noted the clearly coordinated effort by all the guilty bastards in Watergate to immediately discredit Mark Felt, who is clearly an American Hero?
They whine about his breach of trust and ethics in the most bald-faced and galling hypocrisy possible given the crimes of these people as well as the crimes their descendants in this administration continue to undertake today. The front page of Yahoo gives us this doozy of a headline: Former Nixon aides condemn 'Deep Throat'
Here's a quote from that article (AFP) G. Gordon Liddy, a Nixon operative who engineered the 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Campaign headquarters in the Watergate building in Washington, and served four and a half years in jail for it, said Wednesday that Felt "violated the ethics of the law enforcement profession."
Pushing back on this is vital and critical in light of today's events and world situation. These people are the administrative kids and grandkids of that era - they are all the same underlings of those days and their methods are the same. The difference is that today they are getting away with it all with nary a whimper from the media lap dogs. The focus has to be on what those criminals did back then and how it's happening again - not the bitching of the guilty like Liddy who were caught and unapologetic even making their malfeasance a cottage industry.
Accidentally had WABC-77 on (okay I love hearing the Repub Gov ads that are just ripping each other to shreds) and caught like 5 seconds of Rush while moving my car and it was all on this subject. Because now with a real Deep Throat they see a chance to somehow muddy up the waters and somehow make Nixon okay.
We need our own side, our own Lions of that day especially, to be out there making sure this man receives his just honors.
